Is sacred sexuality the same as Tantra
Posted by: astrocastro in Neo-Tantra, SexualityIs “sacred sexuality” the same as Tantra? Read this article from the dailycamera.com and judge for yourself. Is it possible for a couple to have a deeply, sensual, spiritual sex experience without it being Tantric? Does being aware of the subtle body (chakras) and practicing breathing exercises during intimacy constitute as a Tantric experience? I think it’s wonderful that many couples seek to heighten their level of intimacy and closeness by learning and practicing how their chakras interact, and how to stimulate them. Especially older couples who have to find alternative methods for acheiving sexual pleasure, but should this be considered Tantra? Or is this really a New Age approach to lovemaking? What do you think?

Namaste Tantric Info,
In my experience Tantra is a vast topic that goes beyond any one approach and practice. With that said many things can be Tantric, from watering your plants to brushing your teeth, to making love with your beloved. The reason is because it is not the “doing” that is Tantric, it is the “being-presence” that is Tantric.
To look at Tantra as a means to an end to experience heightened sexual pleasure I believe is a limiting view. With that said it can also be a door way for an individual to enter into an expanded experience of Tantra. In this manner I see value to it.
What I LOVE about the Tantric perspective is that is Tantra is not “either/or”, it is not either this or that. Tantra is an “either/and” it is this and it is that. Tantra points to the unity in apparent opposites. The Tantric experience is the going beyond the experience of duality to the experience of oneness.
Namaste LOVE,
Rafa
